Gennaro Chianese
Gennaro Chianese (Naples, 1998) began his training at the Centro Regionale della Danza “Lyceum” under the direction of Mara Fusco, where he studied until the age of 15. He was then admitted to several European dance schools and moved to Dresden to attend the Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden. He continued his studies at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm, where he graduated while also taking part in ballet productions with the Royal Swedish Ballet.
At 18, he joined the company of the State Theatre of Augsburg under the direction of Robert Conn, quickly distinguishing himself as a soloist. He later moved to Theater Hagen, where he remained for five seasons, working under the artistic direction of Alfonso Palencia and Marguerite Donlon. There, he enriched his repertoire as a soloist, collaborating with numerous choreographers including Itzik Galili, Cayetano Soto, Marguerite Donlon, Alejandro Cerrudo, Kevin O’Day, among others.
While in Hagen, he created his first choreography, Serotonin, for four dancers, and developed a strong interest in theater management, serving as production director for two productions. During this period, he also collaborated with the Donlon Dance Company, both as a dancer and as a production manager.
He continued his dance career at Theater Magdeburg under the direction of Jörg Mannes, where he performed as a soloist in numerous creations by Mannes himself, as well as in works by artists such as Edward Clug, Philipp Kratz, Georg Reichel, Jeroen Verbruggen, and others. At the same time, he deepened his interest in cultural project management, collaborating with Federico Zeno Bassanese and the Eidart agency on the creation of cultural events.
Recently, he worked together with Federico Zeno Bassanese to create the piece Der Letzter Walzer in Staub, which premiered at Theater Magdeburg. He also presented his personal reinterpretation of the shadows from La Bayadère within the Grand Tour dance project, staged at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Magdeburg.
He currently continues his career as a dancer, while cultivating prospects increasingly oriented toward creative consulting, artistic creation, and cultural project organization.
