FEDERICO ZENO BASSANESE

Dancer, performer, art and cultural manager, choreographer, and artistic director, he has extensive experience both on stage and behind the scenes in live performance. Over the past 12 years as a professional dancer, he has developed strong organizational and managerial skills alongside his artistic career. He possesses deep knowledge of music, dance, musical theatre, and opera, and is specialized in the organization of cultural and artistic events, galas, choreographic projects, and festivals. His in-depth understanding of the international cultural environment has been shaped through significant collaborations and prestigious public and private assignments.

He is currently employed as a dancer at Theater Magdeburg. Over the past 10 years, following his graduation from the Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy and while working with various European dance companies, he developed a strong interest in production management. This led him to collaborate closely with multiple theatre departments as a dancer representative, project and events coordinator, choreographer, and choreographic assistant. To further strengthen his managerial skills in the cultural field, he graduated from IULM University with a degree in “Arts, Performance and Cultural Events” and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Arts & Cultural Management at Leuphana University Lüneburg.

Since the 2023 season, he has taken on organizational responsibilities for Ballet Theatre Magdeburg, working closely with Ballet Director Jörg Mannes, while continuing his career as a dancer within the same company. His experience within the German theatre system has allowed him to gain in-depth knowledge of contractual law and a strong awareness of the rules and approaches that structure the complex organizational machinery of a theatre.

In parallel, he has coordinated several freelance projects as a manager and artistic director for both private and public institutions in Italy, Poland, Germany, and Switzerland. His responsibilities included project organization, financial management, and the drafting and negotiation of contractual agreements with artists and partner institutions. Among these collaborations are Art Gallery Trieste Contemporanea, Teatro Stabile “Il Rossetti” of Trieste, Kunstmuseum Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen in Magdeburg, Opera Haus Theatre Magdeburg, Polish Dance Theatre, and the Val Poschiavo Festival “Giardini Incantati.”

From 2018 to 2023, he served as artistic director of LEDA, leading multidisciplinary projects that combined choreography, acting, music, video art, and writing. His work focused on placing these artistic disciplines on an equal level, without one prevailing over the others. The integration of technology has become a fundamental and growing aspect of his artistic and creative development.

In addition, he has developed extensive experience as a choreographer, consistently emphasizing artistic dialogue with dancers and a mutual development of the choreographic process. He has worked as a choreographer with renowned institutions such as Semperoper Dresden, Wroclaw Ballet, Teatro Stabile “Il Rossetti” of Trieste, Kunstmuseum Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen in Magdeburg, Opera House Theatre Magdeburg, and Polish Dance Theatre, with upcoming work scheduled at Oper Köln.

He has built a strong international network of artists and managers across Italy, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and Austria. Through these connections, he has had the opportunity to learn from leading figures in cultural management, including his mentor Stefano Curti, Organizational Director of Teatro Stabile “Il Rossetti,” who entrusted him with the artistic direction of two highly successful ballet gala evenings titled Corpi in Fuga.

Since March 2024, he has founded EIDART, an agency for artistic and cultural events, with the aim of expanding international networks and increasing project production.
